Gear

We hope to help in some manner for any others considering Denali as a climb and will report back here on how gear chosen performs on the mountain.  Unfortunately you need to be patient for that.

Having a wide foot I have selected the Zamberlan Denali, aptly named and hopefully a provider of good karma on The Big Ones ridges, slopes and glaciers.  The first thing I noticed about these boots, correctly size a size too big to keep my toes on, they are still a positive boot to climb in and appear very warm and are very light.  A friend Bonita used them on Ama Dablam this season and thinks they are great.  However, heading to the coldest mountain in the world I won't be taking any chances and will be adding an overboot to the gear.  http://www.zamberlan.com/catalog/index.php?lang=en&pg=prod&idprod=175&idcat=1

Why the Zamberlan Denali, besides what I have written above, well I have have their alpine boot called the Eiger and this is and amazing boot to climb in and walk in, and I have come to trust this boot a great deal and hope the Denali will be the same.  I also, have more interest in technical mountaineering and therefore a choice was made for a boot that is still warm, but very good to climb.

Sleeping bags, the team is almost completely exclusively using these babies, supplied by www.peglers.co.uk Tundra Pure & Dry -40 http://www.peglers.co.uk/products/Tundra-Pure-%26-Dry-%252d40.html  These are obviously only the bag element of our sleeping systems, but are so so important.

Most of our down clothing is coming from Rab, once again supplied by www.peglers.co.uk

Salopettes: http://rab.uk.com/products/expedition-gear/expedition-salopettes.html
Mitts: http://www.peglers.co.uk/rab-expedition-mitt/
Booties: http://www.peglers.co.uk/products/Rab-Exped-Slipper.html

The likelihood is we might not need much of this gear, but if we didn't have it, we certainly would, it also ticks the box for future expeditions.

That's all for now, but I am sure other team members will add more about their boot choice and so forth.
